There are also 2 centers, one serving students who require an alternative setting, and one serving pre-school children.

In 2016, Goochland Middle School was named a National School to Watch and Byrd Elementary School was named a Distinguished Title 1 School.


Three fine wineries, a popular farmer’s market, and access to a wealth of recreational activities offers residents with things to do for the whole family. If you’re a history buff, make sure to check out Thomas Jefferson’s boyhood home of Tuckahoe Plantation, a registered National Historic Landmark. Enjoy outdoor recreation such as cycling, hiking, hunting, fishing and picnicking at one of the area’s several parks and recreational complexes.
